What is Heat Treatment?

Countries that are signatories to the International Phytosanitary Protection Convention (IPPC) are now implementing wood packaging material (WPM) protection standards called the ISPM 15. The standard requires all WPM of goods for export from one country to another that are packaged on Pallets, Wooden Boxes or Wooden Crates have their WPM treated against non-indigenous plant pests that are wood boring. WPM is usually treated before it is exported to avoid the transmission of the pests from one country to the other.

Heat Treatment is the best method to comply with ISPM-15. It is a safe, quick and effective method. This method requires that the Wood Packaging Material (WPM) should be exposed to a heat source in which the core temperature of the wood reaches 56oC for a continuous period of 30 minutes.

Why AMACT DHA HT System is different from other HT and KD System?

AMACT DHA HT System is carefully designed that the heaters are located outside the insulated chamber, powerful blowers then helps to push the dry hot air into the heaters and in the insulated chamber giving a good heat distribution throughout the chamber. The dry hot air does not crack WPM that is being treated under intense heat. Unlike other HT and KD system that uses filaments, pallets or wood that are placed closely to the heating element will get cracked.

Equal distribution of dry hot air within the chamber allows wood moisture to dry up quickly thus the chamber is completely dry even after the treatment. Having dry hot air substantially reduces the moisture percentage within the wood.
